Jodie Herrera

Jodie Herrera is a Visual Curator and Artist from Taos, New Mexico. Her bloodline has tied her to the land for over 500 hundred years and is of both Spanish and Indigenous decent.  Herrera's art and event curating experience began in her early teen years and has been utilized, in her adult years, within the gallery setting as well as in grassroot community environments. She is invested and passionate in seeing the New Mexico art scene develop and thrive.

Art has always been apart of Herrera's life. As an artist, Herrera predominately works in oil painting, but extends herself as an illustrator, muralist and multi-media artist as well. Herrera is known for her semi-photorealistic paintings that focus on the female figure/portrait where she seeks to create a conceptual homage to the female experience. She does this by telling the personal stories of hardship and resurgence of her subjects.

Her artistic skills have been featured in such settings as The Art and History Museum of Santa Cruz, Albuquerque Art and History Museum 516 Gallery etc. Herrera received her BFA with honors from the University of New Mexico. She currently lives in Albuquerque N.M. Where she co-curates Pop-Up art exhibits, among other art related events, and works as a precessional artist.
